Did a search - no luck. Wondering if someone could point me toward instructions for building a 2 or 3 strand barbed wire fence including mat'ls per length, tools/equipment, proper methods, etc. I know it's probably not rocket science, but it's new to me. Thanks!

redbrand.com has a lot of information on fence products,I have built a lot of 5 and 6 strand barbed wire fence. You can go all wood posts or you can set a wood post and then several t-posts,you need to get your corners set good so when you stretch your wire you will not move your corner posts. I generally set my posts about 18" to 22" deep,I always used locust posts, you could probably buy some pressure treated posts. You can dig the holes buy hand or if you know of someone with a post hole driller it would be a lot easier.Once the holes are dug and the posts are set you will need to tamp the dirt in around the posts, some old timers even go buy the phase of the moon when setting posts, though I never did.You will need a set of wire stretchers and some fencing tools and fence nails. How long of a fence are you wanting to build? What are you fencing in?

I suppose the total fence length may be 1/2 mile. It's not so much what I'm fencing in as what I'm fencing out. I have several newer small (5 acre) lot owners that adjoin my large piece. Seems that once some of these city folk move out into the country, they think they are surrounded by public property. I guess NT signs are too subtle....maybe a fence will send the right message.

Lots of luck,It may help some, stoping the 4 wheelers maybe if that is part of the problem. If that is all you are doing I would get some T-posts and put the wire up,it would go a lot quicker.Have you ever thought about a woven wire fence?

Pat, you might find http://www.tractorsupplyco.com interesting. Put your pointer on "Learning Center" and then click on "Farm" in the drop down menu, then look at some of their fence building instructions.
