Hi everyone, I have roughly 500 ft of 4 board oak fencing with vinyl coated wire between the posts and boards that I would like to paint. I was looking for the ideas on the most cost and time effective method in doing this. I thought about spraying but was concerned about the wind? Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

I would spray it on a calm day, or in the evening if the wind dies down. Some spray tips may work better in windy conditions (smaller fan tip). Morning would also be a good time, just monitor the moisture on your wood before starting, don't want dew under your paint.

Whatever method you decide to implement, I would deeply suggest that you make all possible attempts to not apply paint to the underside or bottom of the boards. Best wishes.

Spray with a power painter of some sort. Be sure to wait till the wind dies down, as you'll mist everything within 100 feet or so otherwise.

Thanks for the help, any suggestions for paint type ? I wanted to do something dark . Prefer long lasting of course.

You might try a google search....for black fence stain or paint...I bought mine from an outfit in KY. years ago to spray our board fencing...it was asphalt based and has lasted all these years.....it is what many of the horse farms use in KY.....I wish I still had the name but I do not....We used the hand pump up sprayers to do ours and we did not paint the bottoms of the boards as Creekbend metioned...it lets them breathe..
