I'm looking for a 3 pt attachment for my Kubota L3901 for trimming my pasture fence lines. I've seen several that are available overseas but can only find mention of 2 in the US. The DR trimmer that uses string to trim with but it only weighs #200 and reviews aren't that great. Unit looks flimsy. Other is by Wright Manuf in Texas but they won't return phone call or email and found website that sold them but it said they were temporarly unavailable.
If I can't find one I may try building one but would rather buy one if possible. Does anyone know anyone else that makes one.

Some guys don't believe in nuking the world, man. I gotta neighbor who sprays the holy heck out of the common fence he built. I weed eat mine a couple times a year. His spray goes all over the place as he shoots his load from a four wheeler. I take the steel blade Shindawa and do a stretch now and then. I guess you might say we have a different consciousness. Oh, did I mention I haven't had verbal contact with the jerks for a decade or more/

There is a used wright cutter on the St. Louis craigslist you might look it up.

To say nothing of potential to cause erosion around posts in areas where water flows thru the fence line. Itll get ugly quick if you dont watch ... and when you have livestock that makes paths along fences its even worse.

Mowers like that work find for barbed wire or electric fences, not so much for net wire though. I use a combo of Roundup and 2-4D to spray my fences and then weed eat it once a year to control the sawbriars that neither of those will kill completely. 1/4 mile of it is treeline fencing and the other is roadway. The county mows it once a year or so but only about 5 feet off the road so the rest is up to me. I don't want it to grow up with trees and brush like most folks fence lines do so I work at it with saw blade on my weed whacker, string line and chemicals. When I get too old to use the mechanical stuff, it will be just chemicals.
I don't think proper use of chemicals destroys the environment since everything I spray seems to come back next year.

A friend has a 3ph string trimmer. He says it is very awkward. In fact, he bought it in pieces, damaged, probably from someone side-swiping something immoveable.

I agree with that 100%. Weed whacking along a few miles of 2x4 wire fence can lay waste to several rolls of plastic cord.

What's worse; a few months of chemicals that go inert or a 1000 years of plastic cord remnants? I find "better living through chemistry" a better option.

If your still looking for a fence cleaner one option is a propane fired rubber roofing torch with a squeeze trigger to control the flame size another option is the three point hitch mounted weed badger.

For those inclined to use a string trimmer I heartily recommend Husqvarna's Titanium line. I was constantly spooling up new line in my Stihl FS130 until I got this line. It is really hard to wear off and break. Time saved from not having to screw around threading new line, or pulling out jammed line, is priceless.

If I wanted to take care of pasture fences then without a sec hesitation I would use 2 4D or if a good deal came along on any Grass and Woody Plant killer I would use them!

I am contemplating one of these. I have about the right length fence for it to make sense. Plus my leaser on some fences is organic. Titan has one for $110 less than DR, but will parts be available? DR might have better support, but I have been very happy with my Titan purchases so far. Anyone try Titan yet? Titan 3-Point Hitch Attachment Trimmer Lawn Mower Category Cat 1 Tractor

DR offers 3 models for different power sources (riding mower, ATV, or tractor). I wanted one to pull behind my 46" riding mower so I bought their smallest. Not only did I want to do barbed wire fencing with combination round steel pipe corners and braces, with conventional T post line posts, but also wanted something that would slide down the embankment of my ponds to mow between my mower and the water's surface.

This one has 4 or 5 positions where you can make it run to the side of the mower different distances which works out great. Also, in steep areas, it slides sideways and gets down where I can't/don't want to get with the mower, amount controllable by where you position the riding mower.

Only problem I initially had with it was that the spring that lets it move around a fence post and then snap back is too soft so I just locked it in place with a chain. This way upon contacting a fence post, it just slides sideways (since yes it's light.....50# roughly), past the post and immediately comes back to where it was because that's the direction of the towing force. The trick is to take it slow and give it time to work. Cost 500 bucks with free shipping and well worth it to me.

I have been using Glyphosate on the fence so I may quit that and use this, or both, time will tell. Main thing for success is to keep the fence trimmed. Tall, thick stemmed weeds (mature Johnson grass to name one) just make it difficult to get a smooth finish.

I just took delivery of a DR trimmer. It came 90% assembled. I think a solid tire would be better than the Pneumatic tire which is already problematic. It can use up the string quickly even though I bought the thickest line. Thinking about trying some wire rope same size as the plastic trimmer line. It does take some getting used to. I think my L model tractor will work better than my B model because of the 3 point control. Uneven ground poses a problem as well. Just going slow trying to get used to it.

Thanks, I have been reluctant to try one.
