I built this a few months ago. I have modified it from the one in the video by adding 2 additional arms so I can unroll all 6 wires on my fence at once. Each roller is adjustable to accommodate all the standard rolls of wire. This worked great as I was able to unroll all the wires at once and keep them from tangling up. I have tons of fencing to redo and this will be an amazing time saver. It is really doable as a one man team and really speeds up the process.

Basic materials list:
1' of 2x2 square tubing for the receive tube mount.
4' of 2-3/8 oil field pipe for the main mast.
6- 6" pieces of 2-7/8 oil field pipe to swivel around the 2-3/8 pipe.
6- 14" pieces of 1x1.5 tubing for the swing arms. These are welded to the 2/7-8 swivels.
6- 12" pieces of 1" round tubing for the rolls of wire to rotate on.
6- 1" fender washers. I added these from the video posted. These are welded about 2" above the arms and the rolls of wire rest on them.

This was mostly all scrap metal that I had laying around.

There are some wire roller trailers out there that sell for $150ish and only unroll 1 strand at a time. I don't have that kind of spare time to use something like that.

This method works great. I've ran about 15 rolls of barb wire the last three years (winter time work) doing inside and outside fencing around my 40 acres.
Only I use one roll at a time.
I made a one roller like your that sits in the back of a small 5' dump trailer and pull it with my GT1862 Cub.
I like your 4 roll unroller. With four wires on the ground that should keep the wife busy and out of Walmart

my experience is that hormonal works better than vertical, and I found that taking two old disks and putting them one each side of the roll of wire, and putting a collar or (in my case I have made a pipe that fits over another pipe, and on the end a threaded shaft, (all thread), and use a double nut system to tighten to snug, but not tight, this keep the roll from spinning and the wire becoming unruly, also being horizontal if a barb catches on another barb, and the roll spins and it is vertical I have had the wire drop down and get caught on the wire holder arms, and some times even wind up under the roll on the shaft, thus stopping the roll from unwinding and depending on the machine your using to unroll can break the wire,

I usually unroll only one wire at a time, it keep them from getting twisted together laying on the ground,
tighten it up and even at least staple or attach it to the posts, staring with the top wire, and working down,

we have over 10 miles of 3 and 4 wire fence, and a few miles wires of single or two wire that is electifed,

I use a pickup/truck that has a flat bed with a receiver tube in it. and put the wire unroller in the receiver tube, and use the same receiver tube for holding a vice or what ever I need,

Your post pounder is also impressive. Did you ever get any video showing it in action?

Not yet. Soon I will. I have a lot of fence to put in. Still working on cleaning out the old fence.

I am not saying what the original poster is wrong, as I know it will work, as I have done similar in the past, but have also had problems with the vertical system, and much better luck with the Horizontal system

I am just giving my experience, of over 50 years of working with barbed wires and rolling and unrolling wire rolls of many different types of wires and gauges, and ages,

over the years I have tried a number of way to unroll barbed wire, and if some one is going to build a unit, I would think that some one may want to glean from my experiences,

(I personally do not care how you choose to do it or build it, but one might want to hear about what I have gleaned from over 50 years of working with this stuff,

I found this extremely easy to work with. Key is not going 100 mph while unrolling. I kick that small kabota in low and walk behind. As it goes along I use zip ties to temporally hold the wires to the post. This keeps them straight and tangle free. Once at the end, the key is only cutting and stretching one wire at a time. Cut them all and you end up with a mess.

My first design was a single hitch mounted horizontal spool and it took much longer to run fence.

I am glad it worked well for you,

when I was using the vertical system I would find that about 4 out of 5 rolls would work well and then get one that would catch and there was little one could do with it, in the vertical method, and could only get unrolled horzonaly, and needless to say one needs to drive slow, very slow,

happy fence building,
