I'm not sure about other models, but the B2601 has a piece of angled sheet metal - we'll say 14 gauge - that mounts between the fenders onto which the toolbox, SMV sign bracket, and top link hook are installed. Prior to mounting the backhoe, the manual instructs to remove this stay and transfer the tool box to the left side ROPs upright by means of an additional bracket. After removing the backhoe, the manual instructs to replace the stay and toolbox to their original location. It seems rather "last-minute" of Kubota to consider this as a viable, long-term solution and replacing the toolbox is just plain daft. I had considered either just letting the toplink bounce around off the PTO guard or finding some other way to carry it. Instead I decided to simplify the attachment of the fender stay.
First step, whack the spotwelded studs out of the stay - easy 2 blows from a ball-peen and that was that.
Next, cut a couple of 5/16" bolts to the appropriate length.**
Drill a hole through the end of each bolt big enough to accept whatever pins you'll be using.
**I used some 5/16 shear bolts, cut them to length, cut new, metric threads and used the original nuts.
