Kubota Tractor Loader L3560 HST+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3,700 pounds bare tractor, 5,400 pounds operating weight, 37 horsepower
I was browsing eBay and saw this Ferguson 3 X 14" plow on auction. Ferguson plows were among The Best ever built.

This somewhat worn, 3 X 14" plow will require a tractor with minimum 50-horsepower to pull it, with 4-WD a definite plus. As noted, this plow is for a Category 1 Three Point Hitch, the most common size.

At this moment the bid is at 99 cents.

Ferguson 3 Point Hitch 3 Bottom Plow or 2 Bottom Plow Sells No Reserve | eBay

I have NO connection to the auction.

If you remove the third bottom you have a more useful plow- just bolted on.

This plow is definitely not among the best ever made. It doesn't even have coulters.

A 3x14 plow was designed to be pulled by 30-something HP 2wd tractors.

I've plowed hundreds of acres with a 3x14 plow pulling it with a 641 Ford and later an 800 Ford.

I am betting it will bring ~$500

Possibly. Plows bring a good price depending model.

A 3x14 plow was designed to be pulled by 30-something HP 2wd tractors.

Ford demonstrated 3 X 12" plows behind 9Ns at Dearborn for newspapermen, ag writers, implement manufactures, investors, distributors and VIPs; maybe a few (large) farmers.

The tractors were factory NEW, probably blueprinted. The tires were NEW, with concomitant sharp bars, and liquid filled. The plows demonstrated were NEW and probably blueprinted. The operators demonstrated equipment professionally for Ford and Ferguson and rehearsed prior to demonstrations. The soil at Dearborn is sand.

Hardly conditions faced by the average farmer.

Subject plow is well used. It is going to pull much harder than a new plow.

Tires on potential buyer's tractor are unknown as to type, wear and fill. Soil may be difficult.

I stand by my recommendations: "This somewhat worn, 3 X 14" plow will require a tractor with minimum 50-horsepower to pull it, with 4-WD a definite plus." "Ferguson plows were among The Best ever built."

.99 cents opening bid and you want coulters?

And I stand by my statements.

Just saying....n series fords weren't 30 something HP.

In the 30-40 HP range, you can get alot more weight and tire size, without double the drawbar pull power than an N series.

the massey ferg model 43 was one of the best. i found one that has 3 14in bottoms with coulters etc. it pulls like a dream with my kubota 5140 but it took a lot of finding the right settings for that to happen. thats the key in plowing is to get it going in right. also if the moldbourds are not rusty. everything counts in plowing correctly. i got a manual for the 43 and it revealed the way to check the setup that helped immensely. the trip plow that this is save time like crazy. if u turn the plow back while hitting a root or something all u do is back up and it resets itself. they really thought this out in the design. when you get it running good then u have to learn how to use it. its not that easy but with practice and getting correct speed its amazing what a good plow will do. i guess i would rather plow than any other use of my tractor now. however having a rear tine tiller makes it even better when u see how fine you cam make the soil.
