65 restoration
New member
Hi there
I have just started a restoration of my massey ferguson 65 and have run into a issue with the 3 PL lift.
I recently tried to raise the 3pl with a set of vice grips as the levers have been removed an once the shaft had been turned as far as it could go the hydraulics lifted right up an then the 4 studs holding the piston the the hydraulics casing sheared off.
Obviously the piston had pushed past its means an maxed out.
My question is that
1. If the levers were fitted to the quadrants would this have happened as with the vice grips I do not know how far the lift shaft had been turned?
2. Is there a adjustment that can be made for this not to happen again?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Cheers
