New here.
Anyone know the injector pressure in bar or psi?
Just found out that one of the injectors was missing its top hat for the spring. I hope that this will cure the huge smoking problem.
Thanks for the info. I made a new tophat for the spring and have ordered new nozzles. No point in messing around. Best wishes from France. Just made a testing rig from an old bottle jack.
I have no idea what your talking about w/ a top hat?? Its a CAV injector correct?? Are u talking about the long spindle rod that goes down thru the center of the inj.. it sits on the pintle of the nozzle on 1 end & the pressure spring sits on it on the other??
IF it was missing that "hat" it must have been broken?? Your injectors are "spring adjuster" set, right?? You just screw down the adjuster to set the pressure & lock it down w/ the cap nut..
The item I was referring is the cap on top of the spring which was missing so the adjuster screw had no effect. No wonder it was belching smoke and had no power. I have ordered new tips as the spray pattern was somewhat runny. When I got it, the engine was blocking against the valves.
Just fitted and regulated the new nozzles. One of them seals really well, but the others drip slightly after the initial burst. Does this normally settle down? 1 set them around 2500 bar.
Probably not the best but made in Italy.
Sorry, It was 2500 psi after all. Tha gauge has bar as well. When I said it drips, I meant from the pintle. I think 36000 psi would have burst the line.
It now has the injectors installed. I am not sure if they are getting enough pesssure to start properly and the power seems low. What is the best way to test the fuel pump? Starting was only done with a liberel use of ether spray.
