As much as I love my Ferris 700Z, I would be looking at a diesel Kubota F series if I were going to spend $16K or more for a mower.

So would I but on the F800X with 31 vanguard and the 60 in deck I have I have a price quote of $10,900. which is a long way from 16k

It's a nice mower. Yes it has enough power.

The reason I put in $16K is that is what the Ferris website I found was selling them for with a 72" deck IIRC. $11K is better but I would think that anyone buying a huge industrial mower would want a diesel engine. Several makes of those front deck mowers, like Kubota and Toro in 4 wheel drive models.

Personally on my hills, 52" is a bit wide to prevent scalping.

EDIT: I went back and looked at that site on ebay and it was a 72" deck with a 30 HP Yanmar Diesel engine, so not so bad of a price after all with the diesel engine and 72" deck.

I am trying to decide what I want in the running are the ferris I3100 and the F800X the scag cheetah the badboy outlaw xp and the big dog diablo mp and the Kubota zd 326 and the bad dog compact diesel all with 60 inch decks. There are things I like about each of these mowers and things I don't like. Priced run from mid $8k (big dog and bad boy outlaw) to $13 k (Kubota zd326) I cut about 8 acres some of which are pasture. I have no slopes or hills but do have some wet areas I am looking at the 35/37 hp motors (Kawasaki or briggs Vanguard) on most of the above mowers

Only experience with a Ferris IS700Z. We do some small pasture mowing with it and mow our paddocks close to the barn with it. For pasture mowing the suspension is a big plus. Horses make for very bumpy ground. The Ferris is tough enough.

The FX800 is nice, just remember it's almost 3' longer (34") than the IS3100. I have the IS3100 with the Kawasaki 37 hp and added a suspension seat because I mow lots of rough ground. It turned a teeth jarring event on the lawn tractor to almost fun. I spend less than half the time and I mow more. I wanted one good mower before I die........:)

31hp is plenty for 60" deck. My mom's 345 has 20hp with a 54" deck. I have a bunton 3 wheeler 71" deck and 25hp. It is fine for general mowing unless you get into real tall/thick stuff. My bunton supposedly goes about 8 mph and I could run full speed most of the time unless i wait too long to mow, problem is I can't go full speed on a lot of my yard because it's too bumpy. I guess suspension could change that. How fast do you want to mow and how fast will that Ferris go?

Really not so much faster with a Ferris suspension. But you can mow hours longer with it because the ride doesn't beat us to death. Suspension doesn't mean quicker. Suspension means longer mowing time with less fatigue.
