Thinking about declaring chemical warfare on crabgrass.

The yard has more crabgrass than I find acceptable, and I have a fairly high tolerance for weeds.

The neighbors' yards look to be oceans of the stuff and I don't want this to get completely out of hand.

Anyway, I read a while back about a pre-emergent named Barricade®. It is the only pre-emergent that has a chance of lasting all year if it is applied in the fall. Second thing, it only comes as an ingredient of fertilizer, and I don't water so I don't fertilize in the spring, therefore none of the other pre-emergents seems like a workable solution.

I had at one time found it in a Bayer Advanced fertilizer, but now I can't find it on their website any more so I will have to keep looking.

Anybody have any experience using Barricade® against crabgrass?

The Spring fertilizer TSC sells contains barricade (at least in my localle). They usually clear out, at a discount, their remaining stock this time of year (In Michigan).

Our rule of thumb, is to apply in spring before the forsythia bushes bloom. Crabgrass reseeds itself each year and the barricade prevents the seeds from germinating.
