Awaiting a call from the dealer letting me know my tractor has arrived. In the mean time, I am doing some research and need to tap the expertise of the TBN'ers..

"The L4400 features a powerful and versatile hydraulic independent rear PTO. For increased productivity, the L4400 PTO can be engaged and disengaged without stopping the tractor. The L2800 and L3400 HST models, as well as the L3400 gear-drive model, feature a live, continuous running rear PTO."

So what exactly is the difference between a "hydraulic independant" and "live-continuous" pto? what are the advantages/disadvantages to each? As an operator, what is the proper way to engage/disengage the live type?

"Mechanical cruise control is a standard feature on L2800 and L3400 HST models. For an easy way to keep your working speed constant regardless of terrain, simply set the infinite mechanical cruise control lever to your desired speed. Changing your speed is as simple as operating a single lever."

Back in the 80's, I used to run an International 1466 combine with hydro, no pedal but there was a stick next to the right hand arm rest and to move forward i would push the stick slowly forward until the desired speed was reached. To reverse, I would pull the stick back to the N position, slide it slightly to the right and pull back. so is the mechanical cc on the 3400's work this way? Does it only work for forward movement? Do those of you that have this feature use it more then the foot pedal? Is it convenient or hardly used?
One final question, if I wanted to add a grapple/remote to the loader, what options do I have to make this happen on the 3400? What is the realistic cost of doing this and how hard is to do for someone with limited hydraulic's expericence? Somewhere along the way I remember a dealer (can't remember which manufacturer dealer told me it would only be a few hundred $$ where another one told me it would cost a couple grand).
