Fiatallis tractors -- anyone have any information?

I am a new tractor owner and have just bought a fiatallis 640 universal tractor. I have not been able to find ANY information on this brand. I think it is linked to New Holland, but there websites are in spanish and portugese only. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Fiat Allis is the brand. Fiat Italy is the owner. Allis was Allis Chalmers and they own Case New Holland as well.

A quick search didn't find a model 640, but I'll post back when I find out something for you.

I think you're talking about a UTB Universal Tractor that was designed based on Fiat tractors, imported by Long tractors and rebranded.
Check out this description of the Universal 640 and see it this is what you have.


Universal Tractor
Most Fiat-Allis equipment that I know about is heavy construction, not what we typically discuss here.
What information do you have from the tractor? I can't find a model 640, but similar models are Wheel Loaders, and I suspect that if yours isn't the Universal in the above link, that's what you have. Can you describe the tractor a little? HP Cab/nocab etc.

Fiat Owns Case/NH. Allis Chalmers is part of AGCO.

I think you're confusing Allis Chalmers with (the former)Duetz/Allis.

You're right, I am confusing it with Duetz/Allis.
Being a night person, I shouldn't be reading this time of the day!!

You remember the Universals that Long brought in? That's the only Universal Tractor that I remember.

FIAT 640 was a very well built tractor. The 4wd was one of the best of the time.
I think Fiat sold the production rights for the 640 model to the UTB universal factory in Romania. Those UTB tractors looked just like the Fiat, but of poor quality. Even if the tractors looked alike most parts were not interchangable.
