Field-attachable / Reusable hydraulic fittings - Pros & Cons

I've been using reusable fittings for over 30 years. Never had a problem. You might take a look at ready made hoses at surplus center if the lengths fit your application. They're cheaper than you can have them made locally, or even make yourself.

the "phase out" is due to supply and demand too.....as a business decision, the crimped ends are cheaper to purchase and quicker to install.....for DIY they are cost effective, so stocking up may be a good option

Less different styles of field attachable ends avail also due to supply and demand

As far as litigation the name of these fittings used to be called "reusable" but now all hose mfg's want no old fittings/hose to be reused in case they are rusted, damaged or installed incorrectly...thus the "field attachable"

If I am not mistaken some of the mfg's also call them field emergency fittings!
