Have a Ford 1520 that was running low on fuel last weekend so I put it in the shed. Today I went and was told there was diesel in the container in the shed. I wasn't sure so i poured some in a tupperware and it was clear. I heard some diesel is clear. I think the Quick Way down the road has clear diesel. I put it in the tank. Cranked and began running. 5 - 10 minutes later it lost power and I couldn't get it to the shed and it died. Cranked up and struggled and died. Wouldn't crank. I unscrewed the fuel line at the motor and let some flow in a container. I then took the line off of the filter intake and emptied the tank. What should my next step be next weekend? I think get some new fuel (#4 diesel?) and fill the tank and if it doesn't crank, bleed the line at the motor and the injectors?

I'd start out with a few gallons of #2 diesel, a new fuel filter and cross your fingers the pump isn't destroyed.
Add fuel into empty tank, let fuel flow thru line install new filter, remove fuel line at injector pump let fresh fuel flow thru line, reinstall open any bleeder screws on pump, remove injector lines, after bleeders have clean fuel crank it over till the injector lines are purged, reconnect injectors and hope for the best and try to start.

Bleed the fuel lines and filter assy till you get a solid stream at the pump inlet. Then, without burning up your starter, crack the fuel inlet to each injector, one at a time and roll the engine till you get solid fuel out. Lock it down and go to the next.....after that, see if you can get it running. If so, back at the injectors, crack the fuel inlet to each, one at a time.....expect fuel to spurt out and the engine to tell you that you lost a cylinder, and lock each back down. After that hope that it is fixed.
Diesel has a unique smell as does gasoline and is more oily in consistency........Diesel #4? Heard of 1 for winter in northern climates and 2 for summer and year round usage in the south....3 or 4??????

I'll incorporate what you said into my efforts. ha I read about #4 and just figured that's what I needed. There are two stations in town we get diesel from and one has diesel we've had problems with and the other is ok, in the past.
Well it was much easier than anticipated. I looked around at gas stations where I live and could only find Ultra-Low Sulfer so I stopped at a place in the country that didn't have a label and I bought a gallon hoping for the best. When I was pouring in the tractor I was happy to see a blue tint. I disconnected the fuel line where it hits the motor and let it run until I saw the blue tint for a little bit and reconnected. It cranked and died 3 times before staying running.
