Filling tire w water and methanol

Hey y'all --

I found a thread / post a while back about how to fill the tires with the water / methanol mix.

I have done a search and can't locate it (?!) now?

What I need is info on the hook up and how to utiliize our 15 gallon sprayer tank to do the filling. Anyone remember that post?

Can't help you with that post, but in general, a hose end adapter from Gemplers or Tractor Supply will allow a hose/valve connection, and allow bleeding of built-up air pressure. Then you can use any pump, from a electric drill pump, a 12 V pump, or a gas pump, and pump the mix straight from a large trash can. I guess you could use a sprayer easily but you still would need the little adapter. Simply fill your sprayer with the solution, remove the core from the valve stem, hook up the adapter to a hose from the sprayer, connect it to your valve stem, and pump. Of course first support the tractor with a jack stand before you deflate the tires. Or use a floor jack so you could lower the tractor as it fills so as not to break the bead as the tire sags from the weight of the fluid. Every few minutes, bleed the built up air pressure by depressing the bleed button on the adapter. THe adapter only costs $10 or 20 bucks. And your stem needs to be at 12:00 obviously.

Yep i got pics of the adapters i used to attach to the sprayer to the garden hose, but i just went to the plumbing fitting section and bought 2 adapters i needed for about $1.50 each.

Go the washer fluid route. I looked up methonol on ebay and it was going to be more expensive i think plus i did not find a chart (quick search) to mix how much methonol to water for X freeze protection. I got -20F washer fluid. Put 15 gals each tire then put about 2 gallons of water in them each to fill up. Im sure i still have at least around 0F protection but not sure.

I did not post the pics of the adapters. Im still at work and its a hassle here to get pics off my cell on to a PC. I will try and remember to do it in a few hours when i get home. If you want them now you can PM me your cell # if you can get Picture texts and i will gladly send them to your phone. This is if your going to go buy the stuff now and need a visual clue as to where to go.

You can see the black 3/8 hose on my sprayer attached to a brass fitting adapter to adapt it to 1/2 hose. Then a foot of clear vinyl hose, then another 1/2 to 5/8 brass adapter, then a short 3ft or so section of garden hose, then on the end of that is the adapter i bought from tractor supply co, to adapt to the valve stem. It worked perfectly and in about 15 mins i had each tire filled. Dont forget to stop every so often and release the air in the tire that builds up. It may burn out your pump as you have to pump harder as the air pressure builds up. I stoped every 3-4 gallons probably and released most of the air pressure and continued.

Well as you figured that last pic is not related to the tires?? My computer does not show thumbnails so i blindly added it, but i counted four related pics so im not sure what happened??
