After being a closet TBN reader(but at least a voracious one), I finally got a slightly used B2710(FEL,toothbar,R4s,canopy, and contemplating a 4-n-1)!!!!! Then, on the way home from skiing, stopped by a dealer's and saw that the 2710 had gotten bigger than I had remembered---buyer's remorse---should've gotten the 2410----oh, what the hey. Might feel a little silly on that monster....ok....it's not a true monster like the JD I used 20 years ago, but with 20 years time to forget, envisioning the shed full of tools, tack, and whatever, and 990 acres less to turn on than before, it seems pretty big.

Now I can't use it at my new home 'til JULY(am I nuts?), but I still have alot of pizzas to make to pay for this pup. It'll give me time to figure out 4'or 5'....4' or 5'....as well as all the things I'll be able to do with the FEL, toothbar, & canopy that're coming with it.

Thanks to all in general; Harv--you represent us newbies humbly and well, Thomas, JoeinIndy, and M(for master?) Chalkey, but most especially Steve C and Bird Senter for your thoughts, insights, answers,....

Ok now, really let me hear what a smart guy I am....I may need some ammo for the home front....Ok, really,.....with feeling this time.

I'm excited, but holding my horses--4 months is a long time.

Tom -

It's pretty rare that someone regrets buying the next size up. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I suppose if you have some tight areas to get into, it might be an issue, but I'm betting you'll tolerate the extra power just fine. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

What part of the Bay Area are you in? And most importantly, where can I sample your pizzas?

Harv-

I don't REALLY have regrets buying the larger tractor--that comment was mostly tongue in cheek, mixed in with a little buyers---not remorse, but maybe fear that it'll look a lot bigger to my wife than she is thinking. Of course, come to think of it, we could send the tractor back if she'd be willing to dig that French drain..../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I'll be fine with the 2710, it's just that I remember, sitting on the 2410 during the shopping process, that the 2710 didn't seem all that much bigger. Then, when I went to stand in the shed 2,000 miles away in CO, it seemed like there was plenty of space. I wanted a chance to run the 5' cutter, and based on all I've learned, I think the 2710 gives me a chance. Another point for the 2710 was the legroom, which just clears my knees if I hold em out just so--was hoping the telescoping steering wheel of the 2910 would add more, but was told it didn't. Anyway, when I got back to CA, and stood beside the 2710 & 2410, it just seemed like the shed either got smaller, or the tractors got bigger./w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Did I make the right choice? Ask me again in 6 months.

I own the Domino's Pizza stores in Marin County, and I'm usually in at least one of them every day. You, or anyone else, for that matter, are welcome to come by for a freebie--just ask for me, or if you know you'll be in the area, drop an email, and I'll be sure to meet you. We can even make off menu not-for-sale pizzas--alligator was the strangest I've ever made.

TomP, I think your feelings about the purchase are more common than most will admit./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Financially, I still think I'd have been better off to keep my B7100 instead of trading up to the B2710./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Of course, I'd rather use the B2710./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Yeah, Tom, my L2500 seems biggest when I put 'er in the shop. When you head out into the open, though, an amazing shrinking phenomenon takes place. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif Also, cockpit space is a valid consideration. You're going to be spending hours at a time either in the seat or getting on and off. Either way, the more leg room the better.

I don't have much "natural" cause to swing through Marin county these days (I'm in Walnut Creek). If you're still there this summer, maybe I'll take the family out to Muir Woods or Stinson Beach. That should get us close enough. I'm intrigued about a not-for-sale pizza. Better not leave it up to my kids, though -- they like chocolate chips on everything. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

BTW - MDBarb is closer to you than I am, out there in Novato. Hey, MB -- FREE PIZZA!!!. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Tom,
With the new tractor you'll be able to help your wife more, spend time w/the inlaws, attend fuctions etc..for the new tractor shall free up a lot of time for you. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
July /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif thats a tad to long to wait.
Better put extra topping on those pizza plus a 16 hour day.
Hang in there.

OK, I'll say it. You're a smart guy.

I'm still in the opposite camp. I looked at the larger B series (B24/27/29), and decided they were too big for my situation. There are about 4 or 5 places on my property where the SMALL tractor (I have a B7500) is absolutely required. I was in one of those last Saturday, and really glad I got the smaller tractor.

However, when I finish the landscaping that I'm planning, there just MIGHT (maybe) be enough room for one of those bigger guys....

When I'm working on our driveway (we have about a 3/4 mile driveway), there are times when I wish I had a larger tractor (heck, I'd go for an L4310! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif). But all in all, the B7500 seemed right for the tight places (one of those being our budget! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif).

Harv, I don't guess I've had chocolate chips on a pizza, but CiCi's has chocolate pizza for dessert, along with several other varieties of sweet pizzas.
