Finally bought a mini-ex and have a couple of questions...

I've been looking for a mini excavator for about a year now. I fianlly bought one from an online auction a couple of days ago and will be leaving tomorrow afternoon on a 10 hour drive to Houston, Texas to haul it home. The model I bought is an IHI 15NX-2. It does not come with an owner's manual and I have searched online with no luck so far. I was hoping someone here may be able to point me in the right direction on finding an owner's manual. I want to give the machine a good cleaning and check over everything really well and a manual would be very helpful. Also, I will be needing a thumb. I have not decided on mechanical or hydraulic because I am not sure of the availability/price of each. Does anyone have any reccomendations on a thumb for this machine? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jason

Can't help with anything about it, but I am curious about the auction and buying process. Did you buy it from bidaboo? How was the price compared to what you have locally? I've looked at Iron Planet, but they all seem to sell for more then what I've seen stuff advertised for at local dealers.

I did notice that Iron planet runs a little on the high side. I bought this one from Bidaboo in Houston. The are contracted to auction off rental fleets from various rental companies. I figure they have been serviced fairly well so that's why I decieded to buy from them. Bidaboo also offers somewhat of a guarantee. Their guarantee applys to anything that would keep the machince from operating as it should. The guarantee doesn't cover rust, dents, welds, instruments not working, etc. I did have to wire the $10,210 before I was able to pick it up so I probably put a little too much trust into them but I can report back on that when I return home with the machine and put it through its' paces. I wasn't able to find a machine locally that I was satisfied with. It seemed all that I looked at had really been put through the ringer and were priced higher. I should be home with it Tuesday night and able to check it out Wednesday sometime if I can get caught up on everthing that will be stacking up while I'm gone. I will definetly have to to check it out and report back before the weekend.
