I guess I am now part of the MF forum now.

Went an picked up my 1998 Massey Ferguson 231 yesterday from a 72 year old man in Louisville, Mississippi. (Very nice Christian feller). My uncle and I left at 4:00am and got back around 1:30pm. It was a total of 515 miles round trip, but boy was it worth it. The tractor has ABSOLUTELY NO LEAKS and just a very, very few minor scratches. EVERYTHING WORKS ON IT! He only used it to rake hay with it. He used his big New Holland to do the rest.

Come to find out, the tractor came from a MISSISSIPPI PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYER, but I am not sure which one.

It looks like a new tractor on the lot. No Ifs, ands, or buts about it. If I were going to buy a new 231 and saw this one. I would have chose this one. It looks just that new. Hands down. It has been WELL taken care of. It had 498 hrs on it when I got it. It now has 501 because I bush hogged a little with it yesterday. I got a he** of a deal, in my opinion.

It came with a canopy, and a set of remote hydraulics, all for $8,000. I am WELL satisfied with the purchase so far.

I even went and bought a brand new 5 1/2 ft King Kutter box blade day before yesterday. I gave exactly $450 out the door. Not a penny more.

Now, all I need is a set of disks and a finish mower!

I don't have any way to post pictures right now, but I sure wish I could. Well I gotta go wax it now!

Travis, I'm glad to hear you found a good deal on a good tractor :) Kinda sweet once in a while to find that great deal and with no issues to boot "thats icing on the cake" So I guess your next purchase will be a digital camera so you can share pics of your new toy , with your new Buds at TBN...:D

Welcome to the club!! Have fun

Good deal! What you have isn't the biggest horse. It isn't space age technology. But that tractor is part of a line that has been copied, updated, built under license, and manufactured in massive numbers. The 35/50/135/150/235/245/230/240/250/231/433/533 line has been the most popular line of tractors ever, throughout the world. There's a perfectly good reason why.

Simple, efficient, economic, reliable, durable, versitile, and easy to maintain. TAke care of it and it'll take care of you. Good luck and happy tractorin'!

Great find! Take care of it and you will have many many years of trouble free enjoyment. In my area old MF's and Fords are hot items , bring a good buck. Best of luck.

Congratulations Travis! The more I play, er, I mean work with my MF the more I like it! Massey's are not the most popular make around here, and I just don't know why. Pictures when you can please!
