I posted a few weeks ago about my cub not starting after a carb replacement. UPDATE: The starter(?) magnet wasn't gapped correctly. When I jumped the battery it started (with starter fluid) , but had to adjust the gov because it was it was idling way too high. I was able to improve the idlespeed, but couldn't get it perfect. Since I desperately needed to mow before in rained, I went ahead and mowed. It backfired when I turned it off.
Now I have a new problem but I'm not sure if they are related or not.
I installed a brand new battery yesterday but it still wouldn't start without starter fluid again. I mowed 20-30min before I had to stop and pick up some dog toys that were in my path. The idle speed seemed better (but still a bit high). But when I went to turn the pto back on, it wouldn't come on! I checked to make sure the wire connection didn't come loose, but I also noticed half of the digital hour meter screen went dark and wasn't showing anything! WTF?! Does the screen not working mean that it's an electrical problem?
Any ideas what the problem(s) may be? I'm at my wits end with this thing and I desperately need to mow!
