After a year of shopping and comparing and dragging my heels, I pulled in my driveway with a new 2006 Kioti CK20 Gear with a loader. I was contemplating the LB1914 but the CK20 was physically closer and not a whole lot more with the $675 rebate. Hats off to the folks at Upper Valley Tractor up on Lake Mascoma.
The pictures below show the CK 20 along side my current unit, an early 90's Honda 5013. I am optimistic that the CK20 will be able to maneuver the tight trails on my woodlot. Although the Mrs. certainly will frown on it, I'm thinking of holding on to the Honda as a mower and snow mover until I get a good grasp on the Kioti's handling capabilities.
Also, check out a good visual of why the U-haul car hauler probably works for the Ck 25 and above, but isn't the best choice for the ck20.
Already, I'm jones'in for a winch or similar 3pt attachment to make log skidding as easy as possible and practical.
The fun starts this weekend
