We have close to a dozen things with Diesel engines. About half are road legal and the other have are machinery/tractors. I have a 90 gallon transfer tank in my pickup and have always shuttled fuel back and forth. It works but with the nearest station a thirty minute round trip it was a hassle at times.

I decided to call a local fuel supplier and got a 1,000 gallon tank delivered. I put a 20 GPM 110v pump with dual filters on it and it is GREAT! The price is about the same no real savings buying in bulk but the convienence is amazing. I can fill all my equipment without worry and top off my pickup at the comfort of home.

Our fuel usage varies but we should empty the tank at least every two months.

If anyone else uses a lot of fuel I highly recommend it.

so you were hauling 500 gallons a month in a 90 gallon transfer tank, you must be wondering what took you so long. Nice have fuel on site.

Maybe not 500 in the tank some of it was out in things I drove to the station but yes it is great.

We too noticed no real savings, but the convenience factor is payment enough.

How do you work out the on road and off road use taxes? If you can get Red dye fuel that has no road tax it can save your off road use. However because there is no highway tax then don't ever use it on the highway. If they dip your tank and yes I know it's a remote posability, but it still happens.

I just buy clear diesel. I use a lot more gallons for on road applications. I know I am missing out on the off road tax savings but the ease of having just one fuel to deal with is nice.

I just take mine right off my secondary outside fuel oil tank. The only real difference between clear uberkleen super duper road diesel and fuel oil these days is nothing but the pile of taxes the Democratic Free Republic Of Neuyorkistan piles on. I just put Power Service in mine in the Winter and plug it in if it's going to be used. Starts right up every time and has no effect on how often it regenerates the filter screens. No Problemo.........

I have loggers that do just this or more all the time. Haul a load of fuel to the woods every day.
