I've posted in many areas here trying to find best price - best tractor for my needs. MF - JD - Yanmar - Case - IH. I been given lots of good advice. I know I'll be told by some that I've overpaid for what I got, but for some reason tractor owners here in the Kansas City area are very proud of what they have, and prices are high.

So I ended up with a JD 670, 4x4, 900 hours, no leaks, Loader, blade, belly mower, Tiller for $7000. An Older case 235 I looked at was $5500 with loader and nothing else. Grey market Yanmar w/ loader was $6500. So for what my choices were, I think my safest bet was the 670. Even if I don't like it, I don't believe it will be hard to sell. But I felt very comfortable behind the controls.

So my post will change form "What do ya think of" to " How do you fix this"?

Thanks All for previous info.

I don't think that I would worry about what others think about the price you paid. If you're happy about it, that's all that matters. If the tractor was well maintained, then you got a good tractor that should serve you well.

Not worried about it. jUst scratchin my head where everyone was getting these deals from. Guess if I wait long enough something would pop up. But being first on the scene is another story. I've been looking for 6+ months. Had a few deals made and shook on, but someone would come buy and offer a few hundred more and all I'd end up with was a email with seller backing out of deal.

Looks like you did OK. Small ag equipment prices do seem to be high in this part of the country and I don't know why. 3-4 years ago a coworker bought a 4wd 655 JD with mid mower and sprayer for $7000 so your in the ballpark.

I had a 670 and sold it at 1200 hrs. Still ran like new and is one darn good tractor. Bad knee so had to get a HDS cause clutching was getting to me. A friend of mine has had it for 2 years now and only had to replace a selinoid. The day you want to sell it if in good shape will be getting your money back. Good luck and enjoy !!!

Thats kinda what I was figuring. Don't loose much buying "Green" Grill has a little ding in it and headlight lens broke. Other than that, visually in nice shape and seems to run better that the 2 cyl. 650 I looked at for same price.

Its hard to find much in the way of a 4WD tractor and loader for less than what you paid....IMO. Probably will work out real good for you.

One area of concern tho is your tires. I see turfs on the front and R1's on the back. Make CERTAIN that the circumference of the turfs is the SAME as that of the ag tires that used to be on front. I'd operate in 2WD until you know that you are not putting stress due to tire size differences - a big "no-no" for 4WD.

I have turfs and R1's for the front of my 790 too. The circumference matches.....but still.......I use the R1's for all 4WD work and save the R1's if I don't want to tear up the lawn (and for spares).
