Jibber, a metal roof is a beautiful thing. It needs no maintenance, it isn't noisy, it lasts a long time, and, best of all, snow slides off of it. At my last house I had to chop ice dams off of the shingled roof. Actually fell off of the roof, when I lost my footing climbing over the peak and slid all the way down. T'was a painful experience. Two days after I had the standing seam roof installed we have a big snowstorm. Watching the snow slide off the roof in big sheets with a rumbly WOOSH was a wonderful experience that still brings tears to my eyes, when I think about it.
