Hello to all,
I've been lurking here since about april 03', when I decided to buy a tractor, but this is my 1st post. You are a great group of people, always willing to help! So here goes: After reading here about the ck20,especially Mathey's ravings, I took the plunge, in June of 2003. Bought a ck20HST w. loader and 1440 BH. This sucker has really impressed me, done everything i've asked of it and more. That is, until last oct. (06') Went to back up,push on tredel, no move, just high pitch grinding noise, YIKES!! Long story short, the coupler from clutch to pump sheared. And of course stripped pump input shaft. Why? ... So I bring to dealer for repair, and call Kioti about possible defect. Nope, out of warranty, even though they acknowledge 7 or 8 other early tractors w. same problem (mine is ser. #00046) I do a search here and find two others w. same problem. Ironically, Mathey is one of them, his unit is ser# 00013. 5 mos. later, dealer calls , tractor is fixed. $2100.00 later, tractor is home, ouch. By the way, dealer comments that new coupler looks totally different.... interesting. Ah well, at least I can use it again. Then at 399.9hrs, hour meter quits (tach still works) They say bad things come in threes, at roughly 410 hrs. (I guess) I've noticed a leak in the fr. axle, at the pivot point on left side, probably an ounce per week, enough to leave a puddle on garage floor.
Dont get me wrong, I love this rig, and do not regret buying it. What really bothers me was Kioti blowing me off. 400 hrs on a 4 yr old tractor does'nt seem excessive to me. I could understand a wear item, like clutch or brakes failing, but this coupler, please. Something like that fails because the clearances are wrong, or the wrong material is used, or someone forgot to tighten a set screw, etc.
Ok, enough ranting, if you have read this far, thanks. A couple questions.
Should I 'yell a little louder " at Kioti about the coupler thing, or grin and bear it
Has anyone had the axle problem like me, and can I fix it myself , or does it require Kioti specific tools.
How about the hr. meter, easy fix? this one really does'nt bother me much. for $25.00, i'll wire an elec. meter
I have learned a ton of info over the years from you guys , and I thank you for that.
Your thoughts?
