I bought a 2 row John Deere planter last year with precision finger meters. I just put seed in the hoppers and planted my corn and sunflowers without any adjustment to the meters. This year I am reassembling the meters from winter storage and I can't find any info on how to tune and fine tune the meters for specific seed. I would rather do it the best I can rather than send to a dealer for a test stand, if possible. I know that the brush gets adjusted for seed size, but what other adjustments are there? This is for small acreage so nothing its critical, but I'd like to get it the best I can. Anybody have much experience adjusting the finger meters and can give a brief run down of what I should do?

I have a kinze planter that is like the oem JD row units. Nothing to adjust other than sprockets for population. There are you tubes about the precision meters. I know is settings on the brushes that can be changed. Look up precision finger meters on Ytube.

YouTube doesn't get into specifics besides assembly and that brushes get adjusted left if under planting and right if over planting. When I hear the word "tune", I assume there is more to it than adjusting the brush. Thanks for confirming. Looking forward to getting some seed in the ground this year.

Good luck with it. I usually plant around 25 acres of corn a year. With this weather we've been having probably could get an early start. 82 here today. I will probably wait a few more weeks though.
