Just bought a NH1428V and need to accessorize. I have 4 acres that have just been bush hogged (nothing heavy at all, just tall weeds etc.) and another 4 acres on an adjacent horse farm that is like a huge lawn. My question is: what mower should I get? Will one mower do it all? I don't think I need to bush hog anymore. What can a finish mower go trough. I am in the process of making the recently bushhogged field into pasture. Keep in mind that that field is now patchy grass of unkown type...its not heavy or woody but it is uneven land, yet flat. Thanks for the help. Bye the way, this web site is absolutely incredible. What a huge help.

Sorry, too many models is my head. It was a Massey-Ferguson, not a New Holland.

If you'r sure it will never get to the point of needing a bushog
again go with the finish mower. I would have to choose a bushog for myself it want cut quite as good but is a little more verseitale. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I know in my area I can rent a bush hog if I need one, With that in mind I would go with a finish mower. What other implements do you use? A mmm is easier to mow around things with while a 3 pt. is easier off and on.

bear, your tractor can handle up to a 6' rfm(rear finish mower)if you set it high you could cut grass(weeds) thats probably a foot high, but not too thick or wet .A 5'rfm will be cheaper and more manueverable,My question is are you going to mow around your house with this unit, If not go for the bushog it won't be pretty but it will cut the weeds ,a 5' would be my choice for your tractor medium to light duty..
Anywhere you want to make look pretty you need a mower designed for cutting grass anywhere else bushog...Mark /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If the field is filled with large clumps you may want to consider a brush hog. Sometimes a field with large uneven clumps can be tough on a finish mower. I use both, a finishmower around the house, then hog the rest. works pretty well for me. Check the local auctions in your area you might be able to find some implements for a good price
