I just bought a used befco finish mower and it has new wheels and tires on it but found one flat today and when I took wheel off the axle bolt is about 1/2 " and the hole through the wheel is 5/8 should i bush this or use as is.

i would put a bushing in.

edit: i'd use it until i got a bushing. The worst i think will happen is the wheel will wobble & make the hole oval.

Will a 5/8 bolt fit through the mount? If not then, yes, bush it.

Agree with adding a bushing.
Semi related ; I chased flats on my Befco C50 84 for years, then finally put solid tires back on it. Befco does make a great mower!

I'd find 5/8 bolt if no luck as others said. (y)

You can have the tires foam filled. My Befco/Frontier has 3 decks-12 wheels. I foam filled them new.

What kind of foam are you using? And how do you get it in the tires?

/ Finish mower question #9
I took mine to a local tire place that does foam. I think they puncture the tire 180 dgrees from the valve stem so the foam gets all the way around and doesn't hump. Not sure about the process and I had no desire to do it myself. With 12 tires it was way cheaper than buying solid wheels. Still a bit pricey as I remember. I don't recall how much.

/ Finish mower question #10
Had a finish mower years back and the tires were always flat when I needed to mow. Had them foam filled and that was the end of flats for the life of that mower.

Worked on it again the other tires are down to, looking at some solid hand cart wheel tire assembly, but has off set hub, can't see how that would matter plenty of clearance. but definitly going to go with no flat tires.

Most of those type of tire/wheel assemblies are available in versions with different hubs (offset, centered, wide, narrow with a variety pack of bushings included, etc) so i would keep looking for the closest thing as it's probably out there.

yep this off set hub may not work , don't won't to invest too much until I can tell if mower is going to work for me.

Befco puts a great mower on lousy tires. All 4 of mine went flat on my C50 after 2 seasons. I looked at foam filling but was able to find run flat replacements for the same price.
