OK,
I may be nuts, but here in SC we dont usually get a lot of snow so I had this thought. I used my finish mower to blast the leaves off my gravel driveway, worked great. So, why not try it on a a few inches of snow? Other than getting the mower wet, any reason it won't work if the snow is light? brett

In theory it can't hurt it IF it doesn't lug down. If belt driven, watch that the belts stay dry. Of course the deck would have to be side discharge, or it won't help.

Leave it to the southern boys to figure out that a mower deck is now a snow blower! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Sure it will work. Also I remember that sometime in the 70's there was an attachment to convert a riding mower deck into a snowblower. I dont remember it being advertised for to long though but I wonder what ever happend to it? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Well, I hate to rain on the parade, but your mower blades spin on a set of bearings, which heat up under use. When water (melting snow) is introduced into the equation, the bearings will draw that water in and it will hasten their destruction.

Now, if you only have to do this a couple of times each winter, I am sure you will not need to worry about it!!

OK,
No snow yet but I have seen it before, Went to school at IU, Bloomington.
They use funny machines there that just push the snow to the side of the road. Never could figure out those darn Hoosiers. bw

We get very little snow in Western Tn. therefore I have a much cheaper and easier way of taking care of snow. I let mother nature do it since usually 4-5 days after bone chilling cold the temperature moderates to a balmy 50-60 degrees. Works every time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you only have a few inches of snow, use the tractor to pack it down.

I would not do it. Buy a blade for a hundred or bucks or let the snow melt..... Not worth risk of injury or death. Not worth possilby ruining your mower........ mow with your mower.....
