Finished the Deal on DK45s

Just finished the deal on a new DK45s today, just waiting on the 2385 backhoe to arrive and be mounted.

I thought long and hard about a cab model, and I suppose on a hot August afternoon I'll wish I had one, but I don't operate a tractor for a living, but did need a backhoe for a wide variety of tasks, so said goodbye to the cab and hello to the backhoe.

Should be enough equipment to keep me busy the rest of the year.

The 45's seem to be selling like hot cakes. Congrats.
I was faced with the same dilemma, cab or backhoe, I opted for the cab. I have spent to many wintery days on a tractor plowing and to many hot summer days mowing not to get one when I had the chance although like you I could have found many uses for the hoe. Please let us know how you like your setup.

You have a lot more acreage than I do, if I'd had more than 20 acres, I'd have gone with the cab too and just sucked up the price difference.

We have much milder weather here, though it's hot and humid in the summer, that's easier to take. I'll probably install a canopy to keep the sun from baking my head.

Update: The backhoe is supposed to be here on Monday, if so I'll have my tractor working at the house on Tuesday. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The backhoe won't be in for a few days, so the 45S was delivered today, box blade to be dropped off tomorrow. Since it's raining right now, and was drizzling when she arrived, I only drove it around the pasture once and back to parking.

Looks real good, making me excited to begin using it.

Not meaning to rain on your parade but this is the first time I've seen that style of loader and I have recently become sensitive to loader construction. I really don't like that loader assembly with the top bars for what appears to be self leveling. With such narrow members resisting a compression force I can see them buckling on you if you tried to push over a tree or some similar motion. It might be the large size of the tractor throwing off the scale but the whole aft end of that loader could use additional beef.

I've sat on the 45s though and really like the size and heft. Please keep up on the photos.
