All,

Thinking about turning in my BX2200 for a L3130.....Moving to a larger piece of property and plan to do some building soon.

Question is, does anybody have any direct experience finish mowing (belly mount) with a 3130? My BX is unbeatable for mowing and I'm wondering if the 3130 can come close. -I know there may be potential soil compaction issues.....

Thanks,

Jim

We use our 3130 to finish mow with a Woods RD7200 3 point hitch rear discharge mower on our 5 acres. We don't have a lot of obstacles to mow around so this does fine with turf tires. With our soil, we don't create ruts. We don't need this big of tractor, but I felt it was the most tractor you could buy for the money in the Kubota line. Of course it weighs more than a BX, but it has wider tires, alonger wheelbase, and a wider stance. It will do you a great job of finish mowing with a MM or rear mount mower.

You might consider keeping the BX and buying the 3130 without a MMM...

That's what I would do... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif... if I were in your shoes and could afford it.

Sure is nice having one tractor for mowing and other chores, and a larger one for larger other chores... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

When you figure the cost of a MMM for the 3130 and what attachments you have for the bx, which likely would be too small to use on the 3130...it may make sense to keep the bx.

Guess this would be one approach, anyway.

i use my b2400 with RFM to keep a couple of fields cut, and it does a nice job, but out there i don't mind a few ruts or markd when it is wet and soggy, never use it on my lawn area as there are to many obstacles, and when it is wet , even the small GT makes marks, no way would i put the bigger tractor on it during the early cutting season.

Bob,

That's what I wanted to hear! I can't afford to have two Kubota tractors in the stall waiting to be ridden. Shortly, I will need to be doing some heavy lifting, and the BX won't cut it. The 3130 seems like the best bang for the buck. My local town uses one to mow the town property and it looks like it does a pretty good job. I haven't looked at it too closely though.

Thanks,

Jim

I have a 3430 and 72 " MMM it does as good as any lawn tractor that I have mowed with and I use to sell new and used lawn tractors. The mower deck is smooth and quiet , I mow around two houses with lots of trees and shrubs also use it to mow 6 acres of fields.

I have a 72" KK finish mower for mine and used it last year to mow the drive around the shop etc.. while building the house. It mows fine however I'll be getting a $2k range lawn/garden tractor for lawn around the house. The L3130 will leave depressions if its damp even a little, when dry its ok. A smaller unit will be easier to navigate around the house and landscaping we have planned.

i have a 3130 too with a rear mount mower i was going to get the mmm but i wanted r-4 tires and that setup would not work cause r-4 are too wide and will rub on mmm so my 3130 is fine for the lawn not alot of stuff in the way and we mow about 3 ac.if you are planning on turf tire you will be fine

Frankie,

Thanks, I did not know the R4s wouldn't work with the MMM. I did want the R4s, but now I guess I need to reconsider, or test out a rear finish mower.

Poco,

That's good to hear. I suprised you use the MMM to mow a field. I guess you just sharpen the blades a lot and keep the deck lifted a bit so you don't hit stuff hiding in the weeds.

Do you notice any serious soil compaction from the weight of the machine? I'd be worried about turning my top soil into "clay".

Thanks,

Jim
