Finnish mower blades

I have a Woods finish mower 72", I need to get new blades and have found two different style blades. One is a high suction blade and the other is a low suction blade. Does anyone know the difference between these blades?

The difference, if I understand your question, is the amount of elevation of the lift fins. the high lift blades usually cut better, but won't last as long in a dusty environment. The low lift don't stir up as much dust under dry conditions.

JD5210. I raise the mower with my 3 point hitch and then set safety jacks under it, Just in case. Then I slide under the deck and use my air rachet to take the blades off. Thankyou for the links I will read them.

Jim if this is true I must have high lift blades because I only get a year out of them, The gravel driveway dosen't help either.

Normally you will use the high lift blades. The low suction blades are for use in sand soils where the sand will scour the blades.

I lift my Woods with the 3-point, back the tractor up to the porch, then set the mower kicker wheels on the edge of the porch and set the tractor parking brake. Slide under it with a 1" socket on a breaker bar, then use a piece of unistrut to hold the blade while I loosen it...and these are reverse thread bolts, just in case someone diesn't know it.

On a side note on removing the blades and reinstalling. I use to use a "cheater" pipe and ratchet but now just use an electric impact. Makes life easier when changing blades.

This is the first year that we have been getting calls about mower owners trying China blades and having problems with them breaking across the center hole. They are inexpensive blades, however, they are missing the heat treat on some production runs. Always use OEM or Italian blades to avoid this problem. Ken Sweet

I don't buy anything made of any metal produced in China that I'm not willing to throw away after the first use.

I suggest you chock those rear tires...
