I noticed that several TBYers were mentioning that they were coming up on their first 50 hours service. I just did mine and I have a few tips. First pick a warm day or do it inside. It takes a while to drain out all the hydraulic oil and refill it. (11 gallons and you need a large container to collect it. I used two old 5 gallon buckets.) Second , get the right wrench to change the hydraulic filters. They are not easy to get off if you don't have a filter wrench or the wrong size one (like I did). I managed to get mine off with a jury wrigged filter wrench. It took some time to make it but it beat driving 20 minutes to the nearest auto parts or WalMart. Third , get the 1 gallon containers of hydraulic fluid. Those big 5 gallon pails of Super UDT are messy. Some one mentioned that five 1 gallon containers are actually cheaper than a single 5 gallon one. Don't block any road or garage exit with your tractor. If you can't finish filling up the hydraulic fluid, you won't be able to move your tractor till your finished. Fourth , use a rachet wrench to remove the drain fill plugs. They strip easily with an adjustable or standard wrench. Keep checking your hydraulic fluid level for several days after you fill it as the level seems to drop a little as over the first few days even if you don't have a leak. Hope this helps a few of you folks.
