First attempt at using the 3pt hitch, since I purchased the machine used, several years ago.

Removed BH. The supply hose is connected to return, did not pop off and is not leaking.

Raised selector valve to 3pt hitch position. At idle and range, the arm does not lower as I move the position lever. Raised the engine speed a bit, still no motion. Makes no odd noises, not sound change at all.

For grins, I adjusted the lowering speed control to mid range, no difference, and also tried the PTO. That does spin when engaged.

suggestions?

3PT does not have power down. Not sure you know that. It requires weight to move down. When you did this, did you have an impliment on?

Turn your lowering damper to minimum and go stand on your lift arms. Make sure your position lever is in the lowest position. You can do this with engine off.

Report back.

No, I did NOT know that. Nothing was attached, figured I would be "smart" save some sweat and just try it first.

Worked as you suggested, but I had to dial lowering speed control to mid range for it to drop when I stood on it. I'm not that big a person.

Started the engine got it to raise up from fully lowered. Tried it a couple times, just for grins.

The lowering speed function makes more sense now, as I guess it is only a bleed off control.

Thanks much. I can enjoy my evening meal and rest now.

You should be able to open up the valve enough the arms will drop without any additional weight…but then when it has weight watch out:LOL:

One of the first things I did was open the valve all the way. Did not drop. I may have had the engine running at the time, don't remember. After all it was at least an hour ago . . .

Interesting. Engine running or not shouldn’t make much difference. Did you grease all the balls and pins? I’m trying to remember if my BX would lower without help and I’m pretty sure it would. I know the other tractors have. At least you got it working now.
