First day for dogs in the snow.

We had our first snowfall today and the new puppies weren't sure what to make of it.
I'm glad to see the first snow.:thumbsup:
Feels like Michigan again.

We are still waiting on our first real snow, the ground was white for a few days a while back, but then it got warm again. Our ponds have had a little skin of ice that never completely melts off during the day for two weeks now and the ski places are open up in the hills, they use a lot of snow guns.

The two best snows are the first one and last one :laughing:

Our last dog, Jule, loved the snow...initially. She romped and played and all that neat doggie stuff!!
Then she tried to figure out where she had to pee (cold squatting in that snow!!!) and defecate...tough decision for a dog!
Bella, our boxer dog...well, other then the surprise snow on Halloween 2011, we haven't had appreciable snow. I dug her a spot to pee and defecate (not that she used 'em)...

I clear a trail to the woodpile and all around the yard for the dogs to use.
The dogs never seem to use it for their business but it gives me some seat time plowing.
My oldest rottie loves the winter and will play/lay around outside for hours.
Then she will cook herself next to the woodstove.

I love Rotties ... and Labs, and GSDs, and .... come to think, if it's a dog, I love it.

We always had big dogs - y'know, DAWGS - who could doze through the deep snow. At present we're the proud parents of one wussy little Pomeranian and one wussy little Chihuahua mix who jump off the porch and flat disappear until rescued.

I got a 70 lb Husky Lab mix going on 6 now, how he LOVEs the snow is funny. Now he is getting older he like to get out and after a few min his WOOF for someone to let him in comes sooner. So far this year none but a dusting yesterday.

best is to give him an empty 2liter bottles on top of a crust of ice & watch him chase it for an hour or so...

Every year, our inside dog, loves the first snow. Every year since she was a Puppy, she will jump up and attempt to eat the snowflakes. She is now 7 years old, and she has done it every first snowfall.
