Hi guys...I can't remember when Terry told me to do the first hydraulic oil change. I'm at about 25 hours on my 425. Also, how often do you change the hydro oil after the first one?

I assume this is your first hydraulic filter change at 25 hours. I changed my hydraulic filter, Robin oil filter, and engine oil every 50 hours after the first one at 25 hours.

You said hydraulic oil change. Did you mean hydraulic filter change? You will not need to change the hydraulic oil unless it get really nasty. Water, etc.

Thanks guys...I guess I was a little confused...I thought you were supposed to change out the filter AND hydro oil the FIRST change. On a related note, I find it very difficult to see the oil line on the dip stick in the hydro tank...seems like a different color rod would have been better.

I'm with you Homebrew on that hydraulic oil can't see the darn line on the stick problem. I guess it may be more readable when the oil becomes a little more colored but I haven't a clue how to see it now. I'm at 19 hrs.

One thick you might try is to push a black oil resistant tube on the dipstick. The tubing normally has a flat appearance, so when you check the oil level, the level of the oil will make the tube shiny

Good tip on the tubing idea...I think I'll try that.

Now if I can figure out where the tubing that PT gives for purging the air is supposed to go. It seemed simple when they gave the demo at Tazewell....now I can't remember. Can anyone describe where the right port is?

Thanks!

hey homebrew, I have a 2007 model and the port is about 7" directly below the center gas tank support facing the hydraulic tank. get to it at the muffler side of the machine. dont worry when you unscrew it nothing leaks out. Make sure you fill the new filter completely with oil before you install it. Best thing to do would be to check out mossroads site...I believe the whole procedure is covered under "50 hour maintenance"
