John Deere 4110
Dang it guys, I feel like I am 16 again. I dented my 4110. I was moving some fire wood and I lifted the bucket to high and a log fell and busted a hole in the hood. It was like slow motion, I could see it happening but couldn't stop it.

Now the big question is should I fix it, or should I wait to make sure I don't do anything else stupid.

Boy, I nearly cried when I saw that 4" hole in the middle of my hood. The tractor had just hit the 50 hr point.

What is worse is my wife was standing there so she called the kids over to see where daddy had broke his new toy. My 3 yr old boy scolded me for breaking his "John Jeers".

Anyone else ever feel like an idiot?

Those who say they haven't would probably lie about other things, too. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

So, no functionality was lost and no injuries? Are you kidding! Battle Scar!!! Whooohoooo!!!!!!

Little duck tape and some JD Green paint and she'll be ready for next time.

Seriously, I learned long ago if it causes no loss of function or posses no danger tape it up and keep going, it'll just match the next one.

However, if it's your pride and joy and not just another piece of equipment to find somewhere to park, by all means indulge yourself.

Sorry to hear about the damage but, glad YOU weren't hurt.

As said, "Battle Scar"! When I rolled the 4115 (self unhurt), I replaced the broken turn signal/flasher assembly. I haven't bothered with the slightly askew grill gaurd or the scuffed ROPS. Whenever I find time I'm not busy with something else, I think about some touchup. Then I re-think and realize there's more to do to justify seat-time and I opt for seat-time over detailing. When and if I ever get a barn/garage, I'll be a bit more diligent with cleaning up my favorite tool.

Well it was my "welcome home from Iraq" gift from my wife. The old riding mower died while I was overseas, and I told my wife I would like a little JD, so she went and bought me one with a FEL, 54" MMM, and a box blade. Gotta brag on her, she is a heck of a catch, and she realizes the importance of quality equipment.

I am kinda **** about taking care of my stuff. The lil 4110 has spent very few nights under the stars. Most of the time she is stored in the shop. I have always believed that if you take care of your equipment, it will take care of you, so she gets a bath on a regular basis.

My boy is absolutely in love with the lil 4110. He waits at the door each day til I get home so he can go for a ride on the "John Jeers". He is 3 and already can drive the thing if I push the accelerator for him.

I have to brag on the little 4110 though. She has done a great job on everything I have thrown at it. I think it is going to be a long term member of the family. Heck I may even pass it on to him one of these days.

I'd fix it cause if I didn't it would drive me crazy. Scratches are one thing and bad enough, holes are another story. Do they offer the extra armour kit for the 4110? I have thought of making something for a hood protector for our 2210. I have a few minor scratches on the hood from crap that fell on the hood from the loader and have thought it's only a matter of time before I get a bigger boo boo on the hood.

Hey, Don't worry about a hood. If you ever need one I have an extra one! I've never thought about sellin it as I'm in the woods alot and and for along time I've kept a Spare, but if anyone ever wants to buy one let me know. I'm glad your home from Iraq. My youngest gungho Son has made 5 trips to Iraq. He is now home for ThanksGiving and has to go back in 5 more Days, I think he will resign in Mar 2006. I hope!!
You guys are the Greatest!!

I feel like an idiot now and again. I borrowed a big industrial grade John Jeers a few weeks ago to help in clearing my lot. It did a great job too, but one day I was carrying logs to the fire with the front end loader. As I approached the fire I would raise the bucket high to dump the contents on the fire. Worked great until I held the up lever too long and saw a log rolling my way. It seems that JD saw anticipated dummies like me though; they made the bucket so that it would only go so far. I could just see that big old log falling on the hood of my borrowed tractor.

Have fun and be careful.

Meaning no disrespect here, but having your son on the trator with you could be a recipe for disaster and tragedy, as it was for this boy: boy killed falling off tractor

Hope your pride isn't damaged too much and that you have many safe experiences!

Keep an eye out on ebay. I have been seeing a lot of hoods on there recently. If I see one again, and it fits your tractor, I will make sure to let you know. They have been going cheap.

I will be looking for you.
