First Mod on new L3940 - Toolbox/Cooler

Last week I picked up a new L3940, and after the first couple hours of seat time, I realized that the factory toolbox is not nearly large enough to accommodate the tools I like to have available. I gave it a little thought, then started throwing together some steel... Here is what I came up with.

31" x 9" tray, made with 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 3/16 angle. I was able to mount this toolbox, using 5/16" Stainless Steel bolts, with SS nylon insert nuts, to the 1-1/2 angle.

I bought some Valspar oil based primer, and valspar Kubota Orange paint in an attempt to match the toolbox to the tractor. The Kubota Orange is too light in color, so I went back to TSC yesterday and picked up Allis Chalmers orange, as it looks to be a better match.

I painted the angle iron frame with primer, then shot it with Massey Ferguson Grey.

I removed the factory installed SMV triangle, and relocated it to the rear of my new toolbox/cooler rack, and installed a grease gun bracket.

The rack is installed using existing factory bolts at the rear of the ROPS. You can still see to hook up implements, and the factory tool box will now be used to house bug spray, sunblock, cell phone, etc.

My wife picked out the cooler, it's an Igloo Playmate, and should keep some refreshments cool when I am out mowing this summer.

Very nice...job well done! Does the toolbox just sit in the frame or is it bolted down somehow? If not, might it hop out while yer bouncin along?
