When do others mow in their location?

By the time the snow melts, temps get above 40*, the lawn dries up and grows enough to mow we may be looking at the beginning to middle of May.

Seeing that it is snowing right now;and way too wet it can wait for sure.About the middle of May in Northern NY and that's soon enough.I cut about four acres.

Highly dependent on the weather here in the Southern Tier of NY. I remember I bought my BX on 4/9/2000 and had grass ready to mow-this year we'll need at least another week of drying before I can clean the lawns up-probably the middle of April at the earliest.

I find that putting fertilizer on in the fall, a couple weeks before it goes dormant, gives a faster green up in the spring that absorbs the early season water and makes mowing easier.

I might try mowing my lawn tomorrow. I still have some winter kill, but most of it has recovered and getting green.

Cat Fever, I would spend as much time outside mowing if I had your view!

I can't even see my grass yet, still covered with snow. Will be late April or early May before I have to mow.

I could still get a snow storm or two but the snow would not last more than a day. I would welcome the water.

Have to mow again tomorrow in Ohio and the ground is pretty soft. Maybe an inch more rain due on Monday

Actually, the first lawn mowing in central-south Ohio was March 25th and about 10 days ahead of last year.
We mow about 24 times and it's "fun" for maybe the first 15 times.

When do others mow in their location?

Sheesh, we received just under a foot of snow last night so needless to say mowing the lawn is the last thing on my mind.

First mowing is usually around mother's day, give or take. Soil's pretty good here and lots of moisture in the ground so once started it needs to be mowed every 4-5 days until mid-July or so at which point it tapers off to "only" once a week.

I mowed today for the fourth time since mid February. Every weekend now for the foreseeable future.
