I'm getting ready to sign the paperwork tomorrow on my first new tractor in 27 years.
Being as this is a huge deal for me, I hope I'm choosing the right one. I've been a long time fan of the Manheim built 6000 series JDs but can't justify spending $64K for a 90 hp. 6430 and not even getting a loader out of the deal.
I've got the legitimate need for 90 hp. plus being as I'm pulling a batwing, plows, sprayers, you name it etc. over large acreage and like the powershift and accomodations in the Kubota Xs.
I'm trying not to overkill even though an aerovator and round baler are in future plans so I've opted out of the 125X and settled on the 108X with a LA 1301 SL1 loader, 3rd remote and 3rd function valve for my grapple.
My main concern is that the 125X is still basically a simple 5 cylinder tier II engine and the 108X is a more complex fully electonic common rail exhaust gas recirculated tier III engine. The plus factor for the redesigned V3800 in the 108 is that it boasts a 10% efficiency gain.
I'm old school in that I still remember how we turned up the old Cummins PT pumps with a spring and a button. I'm also a dog that learns new tricks pretty easy. It's just a shame that the new technology has relegated the shade tree to the dust bin of history now that everything needs to be plugged in to be properly diagnosed.
To that end, I am concerned about the reliablity factor of these new Kubota Tier III engines. This aint grandpa's 4020 anymore.
