Kubota B2630
I was reading in my owners manual on my new 2630 and it shows for first oil change at 50 hours, but also states in there it being new should be changed earlier. When I by a new car or truck I always do the first oil change at 1000 miles to get all the shavings and soforth out of the engine. Anyway how many hours did you all go before your first oil change on your tractor?

50hrs will be good, make sure you change filter too and hydralic fluid and filters.

I dont intend on doing mine ( B3030) before the 50 hour mark. Id advise you to start hunting for engine oil though! They recommend 10W-30...thats of course DIESEL rated...and other than Kubota branded oil..."good luck"!!!

Yea i agree, I never change the oil without putting on a new filter. I was just wondering if everyone waited until 50 hours or changed it sooner.

I followed the manual. Changing it earlier might make one feel as though they are doing the engine a favor although I'm sure that could easily be argued. The oil filters be they engine oil or hydraulic will provide a trap for any metal parts that get pulled through the pump(s). I recall doing mine at either 48.5237 hours or was it 52.4837. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Kubota dealers stock 15W40 in Kubota branded oil and it is accepatable to use it over 10W30.

Do you know who manufactures Kubota's oil for them? I usually use Schaeffer's brand oil in my products. (please no oil flames, I know when you talk about oil with some people you would think you called their mother a bad name). But I may use the Kubota brand oil and definately Kubota filters while engine is under warranty just to cover myself. I looked up Schaeffers to see what they had and theirs is a CI-4 and CI-4 Plus and CH-4 rating, where my Kubota manual states CD & CE & CF .

If Schaeffers has a 10W-30 or 40....with the CI-4 spec...use it then! Those specs from Kubota are close to being prehistoric... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Only thing I could find..that was READILY available...was SYN Rotella..5W-40. (CI-4 rated also)...so thats what Im going to use in mine....also in a Kubota diesel powered genset too...

Im staying with the Kubota filters...and gonna order them online in a week or so..even though Im a LOOONNNGG way from my 50 hr mark. Might as well have them sitting on the shelf here as waiting for them to arrive...

I know what you mean about changing oil sooner when its new. On my John Deere L130, that I owned last year, it said to do an oil change after 5 hours, and then every 50 hours.

With cars, though, you might want to rethink things. On my new Honda (Element), the manual warns you to not change the oil before something like 7,500 miles. A user forum discussion about that particular note seemed to imply that Honda uses a special oil with Molybdenum in it and it works with the shavings, etc. to properly wear in the engine. I don't know if the discussion makes sense, but I followed Honda's suggestion, figuring they know best how to improve the performance of the engine they engineered, built and tested.

Some folks have mentioned it comes from Valovoline. Chevron Delo, Shell Rotella, Valvoline Premium Blue, Castrol etc all make a version of 15W40. Its fine and will serve you well throughout the life of the tractor.
