Most all of the wood I salvaged is hemlock...milled on site to build the barn. There is some hickory mixed in...most of the hickory was in the roof purlins I took off. The barn was built in the 1930's by my great Uncle Jeeter (that was really what my Mom's family called him) and an old fellow named Benfield who lived in a cabin on the edge of my great-grandfather's property and helped on the farm.Nice work! Do you know the age of the barn and species of wood?
Very nice! Barn wood is absolutely beautiful when it takes on those colors. I do have a question-what do you do to make the new saw cuts look aged? I couldn't see any place where it looked like fresh cuts, so I'm assuming you must have a method to make them disappear or blend in with the rest of the patina. In any case, it looks great. Thanks for sharing.
