After killing 7 - maybe 8 last year I didn't expect too many this year.

the girls (dogs) gave the something is wrong or we have a snake here signal.
Sure enough he/ she was under the truck & mad as he!!. Only thing close was a very dull hoe. Took several good whacks to finally get it.
Looked for another as they are often in pairs this time of year. Nothing found.

Pic tomorrow if its still there. Buzzards love them dead or alive. My road runners should have found it as well, got 6 0r 8 of them hanging round.

Not real often although in the past I have come across quite a few.
They like the yard, baby quail, water, shade, & such.

Horses don't pay much attention, but a mule is a whole different story.

Easy to kill'em.
Also easy to justify.
Not as easy to think it out as to why you should just relocate them.
Which is the bigger challenge?
It ain't killing them, that's for sure.

Roadrunners are rarely seen in this area, especially in town, but so far within the last month, we've seen one in our yard three times, even came up on the deck and right up to the back door once. But fortunately, no rattlesnakes so far.

A few years ago, several of us were riding our horses up a rocky trail. When we got to the top, there was this big ole rattler sunning himself on top of a flat rock. No way was he moving! He just sat there and rattled at us. He had to have heard/felt us coming long before we got there. So much for the "experts" who say they (snakes) avoid confrontation.

You do as you please.
But the first time you step out the door & there is 1 laying there, you might change your mind. My sister got bit just like that.
Neighbor had 1 come in the house & it bit his dog. Very sick dog, but it did survive.
Next these (Mohave -or Coon tails ) more often than not strike before they rattle.
Sounds like you may just be creating a snake problem for someone else.
Better "relocate" them more than 2 or 3 miles away or they may just come back

The dogs knew earlier in the day it was there. They are mostly silent when hunting or playing, But a few times they alerted, Growled (Very Rare) & went looking. I looked where they went and saw nothing, but knew there was something they didn't like.
Rattlers in my yard go to rattler heaven. All other snakes are welcome.

Same hear with copper heads... If I don't see them, fine. If they are out in the fields or woods, fine. But, around the house, gotta go.

I surely agree with you. If a venomous snake encroaches on my home life, he will get killed if I see him. There is plenty of woods 1/4 mile away for snakes to habitat in without coming into my personal space even if my personal space used to be his space. Relocation of a snake is only good for a couple of days and they will come right back if something is drawing them there which is usually something that I don't want them to eat like my baby chicks of eggs. There is just too much danger to young grandchildren that come to visit for me to allow venomous snakes to hang around.
I have no rats for snakes to hunt so anything they are eating is what I am raising.

Non venomous snakes are welcome to live around the house. Venomous snakes are not welcome near the house. It is as simple as that.
