Not as much as the drunken hornets that are hiding in the bunches.

Hate it when that happens:)

I was harvesting California Concords a few weeks ago (I have a grand total of 12 vines on two 40-ft long VSP trellises--for table grapes). Stuck my hand into the foliage to grab the next bunch. A yellow jacket stung me good on the tip of my pinky finger. Hurt like heck. So I bought a $15 bee keeper outfit from Amazon and now use that plus a stout pair of work gloves to pick grapes.

Good luck and be careful out there.

Actually, it just gave me a love bite. I'm kind of amazed how many bees and hornets are stocking up for the winter right now. And they are relativley docile around the broken grapes. I think it just wanted to let me know it was there.

I've been cutting Willow firewood since harvest finished. The mud daubbers LOVE the fresh cut surface and don't even pay attention to anything else. I have smashed some right in the middle of a bunce, made a saw cut through them, picked up a block and loaded it with them crawling on it, etc. Even smashed one with my bare hand picking up a block. I don't even pay them any mind while 'wooding'. It is a bit intimidating to climb into the truck bed to stack blocks when there are hundreds of them buzzing around though...

I have the same problem with the bees hiding in my figs. I've learned not to pick the ones that are over ripe.
