We just call them black snakes

I saw one the other day after mowing a field. Mine was a black rat snake too. They're the only type of snake I've run across in northern Kentucky. Neighbors say we have plenty of copperheads and water moccasins (cottonmouths), but I haven't seen any yet.

I could probably use 1-2 of them here in the yard. The garter snakes that I see, mostly collect bugs (also good)

I might see one copperhead a year. Generally out back mowing.

We generally see a lot of black snakes around here. Leave our blue bird houses alone, and we won't bother them LOLI could probably use 1-2 of them here in the yard. The garter snakes that I see, mostly collect bugs
That said, and I've shared this pic before...
Sitting on the hopper after dinner reading the paper sitting. Put the paper down, stand up to finish my business, and what catches my eye?... Don't know how I missed him when I went to sit down. Good thing I went crap before I saw him LOL
We moved him safely where he belongs, OUTSIDE!!
