Hi All,
This is both my first post and my first tractor purchase. I am looking at the New Holland class 3 compacts (2310, 2320, 2330). These are the 40, 45, and 50 hp models respectively. I will be purchasing a 250TL NH loader with the machine. I have a couple of questions.
What is a good price for each of these machines? I would probably be taking one off a lot which I've been told would save me about $1500 over having to order one. I've been talking to a dealer and I get the impression he is willing to deal a little to get these tractors off his lot to make room for the "newer" 3040, 3045, and 3050 models (which are identical to the 23xx series). He priced a 2310 with loader to me for $21,200. Is that a good price? The 2320 was offered at $24,800 which seemed a bit of big jump for just 5 hp. I can only assume he is discounting the 2310 more because he is more anxious to move it off the lot. I figure that at his initial price of $21,200 that I might be able to get him to drop to $19000 - $19500 (maybe!). After leaving the dealer I got to thinking more about the tractor and I really feel the 50hp 2330 (3050) is the tractor I should buy. If I was to offer $22,500 for the 2330 would the dealer consider it ( or would they all gather round and start pointing and laughing
). Would $22,500 be too aggressive a offer on my part? Yeah, I know, throw it at the dealer and see what they do. I just wanted your guys input since there are many of you here with a lot of buying experience.
Do tractor dealers "work" like car dealers in that they have a fair amount of price negotiation lattitude. For instance, if a car dealer shows you his "invoice" and sells you the car for that price, he is still making money because of "factory holdbacks". There are a number of sites on the Internet which give a "tutorial" on how to buy a car from a dealership. If you apply what you learned from the "tutorial" you can usually get a pretty good or at least fair deal ( well, one likes to think so anyway ). I looked for similar "tutoriials" on how to price and buy a tractor but to no avail. Do tractor dealerships operate similarly? One frustration I have is that I can't even find MSRP prices for these tractors as a reference / starting point. And try as I might, I sure as heck couldn't find a "window sticker" on the tractor
Anyone have any insights into how to determine if you are getting a good price / deal or not?
I am in the N. Arkansas / S. Missouri area.
Thanks in advance for you feedback.
