I'm a relatively new member to this forum. After reading about hydraulic top links here I recently purchased one and today was the first time I used it. I had some serious potholes in my 800' gravel driveway and my box blade made quick work of them. What a huge difference as compared to having to manually adjust the cutting/grading angle. I had owned a L3000 without rear remotes for 12 years before recently getting the MX5100 (with one remote). I plan on adding a second remote soon and will look at adding a hyd side link to make crowning the driveway easier.

To be honest, before joining TBN I had not even heard of "Top & Tilt". What a great source of information...

Boy, Southwest, Vermont looks a lot like north central Vermont.

You're right! The snow finally melted this past week so now have a long list of projects...

I doubt it. Most lakes and ponds around here are still frozen so I imagine that Joe's pond will have ice until May.

Congrats on the top and tilt. Most people find them a great addition. I know I did.

Still snow in NE VT. But it is going fast. This is a couple days ago.

Yesterday the last of the snow melted from the roof, still a lot of snow in the fields, but I'm hearing redwings and song sparrows. Spring is making itself known!

I have a carryall I put a hydraulic top link on this past winter so I could lower it up and down easily while keeping it flat. I intend ti use that cylinder on my hiller for the garden as well. - Just saw the corner of the garden through the melted snow today- covered still, but the corner showed- with a large covering of water, melted snow!

I have been farming for 35 years and just recently read a post concerning a hydraulic top link. I didn't even think about it as I had drag implements over the years with cylinders and had a problem controlling the depth...course that and 3rd member on a tractor is not the same as I learned.

So I put one on my tractor recently and I too am sold on the idea. I run some pretty good sized implements for the size of my tractor and depth and tilt are big factors in overloading it or not. With the cylinder I can get going and look out the back and tweak the implement for best performance.

You'll enjoy adding the second remote and getting a tilt cylinder as well. Especially when doing BB work.

When I'm doing fine finish work I set the 3pt height with the BB off the ground a few inches. Then I adjust the height with the top link. Seems like I can get a finer touch that way. Once you add the tilt cylinder you can really do some slick finish work. Especially if working on a driveway or something that needs a specific grade.

Thanks for the tips. I have some more experimenting to do...
