Today, I had my first homegrown tomato, a Cherokee Purple, compliments of my neighbor. It looks like he is going to have a bumper crop of Cherokee Purples, Jeremiah Johnsons, and Mortgage Lifters. I mow part of his property with my rotary cutter and he keeps me well supplied with tomatoes. Life is good!

We had our first tomatoes a week ago out of the greenhouse, celebrated with a bacon, fresh basil and tomato sandwich. Tomatoes and basil from the greenhouse and home cured and smoked bacon. Life is good:licking:

No tomato's here. Birds ate all 3 of my little plants. They also ate my little flowers. Is it worth it replant some more this late in the year or early summer. Sun will burn, just about anything. What to do next spring???

OH well life goes on Will try some thing. Just have to see what the lord does for me.

We've been getting tomatoes here for about a week or so. They are wonderful! The deer have been browsing the tomatoes to some extent, and they are playing havoc with my cucumbers. I fear for my East Texas Purple Hulls, as they are about 2 inches high and a delicacy for the deer. We'll see how the repellent works this year.

We got our first tomatoes this week. Yum! The dry farm tomatoes are looking better than the ones that get watered.

The birds ate all of mine also. Twice! The 3rd planting was the first of June and a little more bird protection.

This is my 44th garden and only once in all those years did I get a tomato on July 4. It's usually early August.
