Well I broke down and bought me a tractor (6/23/17). Up until I bought the tractor I have been clearing 12 acres with a chainsaw and other back breaking tools.
I now have a 2017 L3901HST, 4WD,LA525 FEL and RCR1860 rotary cutter. I have cleared this land before with the stone age tools when I was old enough to grab hold
of a branch and haul it to the burn pile. My dad had the land. It was a place we went on the weekends. Somewhere along the way we quit going up there. Needless to say
it now is trees, brush and vines. If you have ever been to the big thicket in southeast Texas then you understand what I am talking about. You literally cannot walk more than two
feet. OK y'all have the picture. I was trying to push and dig my way thru a thick area on the tractor. I started to back up and the tractor just stopped. I tried to start it and nothing.
Not a peep. I had to get my truck and pull the tractor out of the thick stuff so I could get under the tractor. There was a good size stick wedged up underneath the tractor. When I pulled
the stick out I found a wire broke. The wires went to a switch under the right side of the floor board. I layed up under the tractor and skinned the wires back and twisted them together.
I had to do it quick for I had pulled the tractor right over a fire ant mound. Confinent that I had found the problem, I reached over and tried starting the tractor. NOTHING.
So I got up in the seat and tried it again. NO FIRE. Only fire I had was in my pants legs and shirt where the fire ants had crawled up and start stinging me. I un***** the tractor and
commenced to pulling clothes off. Luckly the 12 acres is deep in the woods. Naturally I had only one bottle of water that was half full and the creek was a mile away. So I did what any good horse
would do. I rolled around on the ground. Now I failed to mention that two weeks prior I hired a guy with a mulching machine to come in and mulch some of the 12 acres.
So instead of rolling around in some dirt or nice grass I was rollng around in sharp sticks. While it wasn't the most comfortable thing to roll around in was better than the relentless
stings. After rolling and trying to decide what were the ant bites and what were the sticks sticking in me I stood up and started to pick the stick and the ants off of me. I shook my clothes off put them on. I only got to look at the tractor for a brief time. I did not crawl back under the tractor. But what I do remember is the switch was either the one for the park break or the one for the
foward and reverse pedal. Now my question. I twisted the wires back together. The error-20 is showing on the tractor. Does the error have to be cleared for the tractor to start or do I have another
problem underneath that fire ant infested ground? I live about an hour away from where the tractor is. I will be going back this evening with tools and a super sized can of fire ant killer.
Any help will appreciated.
