First Tractor

All, I am looking to buy my first tractor. I am interested in a something like the B7610 size. I would like to buy new but I am also looking at used ones as a way to save money. When I go to look at a used tractor what specifically should I check for. I would assume this question has been asked before so if anyone could provide me with a link to any similar threads I would appreciate it.

Welcome to TBN.

Just to give you a starting point.. I would check..

Number of hours on tractor, visibly look at all the fluids and check for proper fill and quality, check for any leaks (hydraulic, oil, coolant, etc.), check the wear on the tires, look at overall condition such as paint, seat covering, etc. and compare wear to how old the tractor is (maybe this will tell if the tractor has been kept inside or out), look at grease zerks to see if they've been used or if they are covered with hardened dirt, and most importantly... test drive it!

I don't know what you have found so far, but I found that for a decent used tractor, they were still very proud of them in price. I found for myself that a new tractor with warranty justified the extra expense, warranty and getting to break it in and maintain it myself....

I would agree that most of the time that is the case. But not always... if your not in a hurry, take the time to watch the used market and you might come across a great deal. I was lucky enough to come across a '99 B7300, HST, FEL, BB, 299 hrs, excellent condition and ending up getting it for $4800. No dought that kind of deal is next to impossible to come across... but you never know.
