NEED NEWBIE ADVICE
THIS IS MY FIRST WEEK WITH MY 3130 HST W/ 723 FEL
9' BRADCO W/THUMB EVERY THING IS GOING GREAT HAVE GOT 3 PROJECTS DONE ALREADY AN PLAN ON A BUNCH MORE.MY QUESTION IS AT WHAT RPM SHOULD I BE RUNNING THE MACHINE AT WHEN JUST TRAVELING IN MEDIUM, RUNNING THE BACK HOE, AND DOING FEL WORK? I READ THE MANUAL BUT THEY DON'T REALY MENTION MUCH. ANY OTHE TIPS OR ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

As fast as you like traveling; 1500 to 2000 for FEL and backhoe work up to full power at 2500-2600 rpm if you need it.

I guess a good rule of thumb is, the more power you need, the higher the RPMs. When we first started practicing using our backhoe, we kept the RPMs down for smoother action and less jerkiness. When we got used to the feel of the controls we could increase the RPMs for proper power for digging.
When digging into a dirt pile with the loader the RPMs need to be up to prevent stalling.
I've heard people complain that their tractor with HST didn't have enough power when traveling, when they really needed to increase the RPMs to give the transmission more power, especially going up hill.
Just curious, does your backhoe run on the tractor's hydraulics, or off the PTO?

Welcome to TBN! The 3130 is a great machine. I run around 1200 to 2000 RPM when doing FEL work.

Another piece of advise is to turn off your caps lock key when posing here. We take that as SHOUTING.

Thanks for the advice. Second week under my belt and realy got the feel for it now.Every thing is going great just waiting on my wood chipper to arrive next week. Got a few good projects underway and now looking for a trailer. Any advice on trailers would be helpful too.
My backhoe does run on the tractor hydrolics also to answer your question. what an awsome backhoe with the thumb, real quality piece.

Do a search for trailer discussions. This subject is discussed quite a bit here at TBN.
